Most engines supplied on products we distribute use kick start, electric start or both.
Some engines will not turn over
Unless transmission is in neutral position
Unless brake or clutch lever is engauged
Cut-off switch is in off possition
Pull away tether is plugged in (
for ATV)
For Kick start type engines
If the kick start lever seems to be jammed and will not depress
Cause
Brakes locked
Transmission in gear (
not in neutral position)
Damaged kick start gears
Engine seized
Electric start engine
Some electric starters spline into a geared starter clutch gears others have a sprocket that drives a chain.
Chain drive starters
Chain drive starters are equiped with a sprocket that drives a chain which turns a starter clutch gear (
one way gear or freewheel gear) attached to the crank shaft.
